Rusty has literally no wedge which makes it a gold mine of ground clearance, if you can pin Rusty to anything, you can get in and possibly flip it over, depending on what you're using. Rusty's speed with treads also makes it oddly predictable and easy to punish. Despite the fact that Rusty is able to self right, the time it takes Rusty to self right is more than enough to set up a follow-up attack. Use this to your advantage and rack up the damage points early if you're using any type of spinner. Rusty's side panels are only held on with a single magnet.

You can also use your axe to act as a guard against other hammers and also hammersaws made using SawBlaze. This is one of the best protected panels in the entire Hexbug Battlebots line as your opponent will have to kick your axe out of the way to even have a chance of knocking your top panel off. (Note: If you do end up doing that, prepare the money for a replacement Hexbug and start thinking of kitbash ideas.) In addition, The removable top plate is not the chrome dome like people may think, it's actually the gray back panel. Given the fact that Rusty is an axe bot, you can get right in the grill of your opponents and deliver precision strikes in just the right place to knock off hard to reach top panels or worse, snap their weapon belts.

Use this to your advantage by running around the arena and not giving your opponents a chance to even try a shoving match with you. Despite this, Rusty uses the same drive motors as Hypershock, giving it exceptional speed in the arena. With them comes an exceptional amount of pushing power even without any form of wedge or forks.

Disclaimer: Using beefy AAA batteries or a LiPo upgrade is actually discouraged for Hypershock because several kitbashers have found out the hard way that this actually completely kills the Hexbug control board over time due to handling too much power at once.

No kitbashes have been made with this yet, but the top kitbashers will figure something out eventually. The Hexbug Rusty is an official product by Hexbug, released alongside Hypershock.
